It’s understandable that we think our school is brilliant – but you don’t just have to take our word for it.
In October 2015, the Independent Schools Inspectorate came to visit us. The conclusion they came to in their assessment can be summed up in one word: Excellent. That was how the school was rated in the eight key ISI report aspects, namely:
- Achievement and Learning
- Curricular and extra-curricular provision
- Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
- Pastoral Care
- Welfare, health and safety
- Leadership and Management
“Pupils achieve at a high level and make excellent progress,” said the ISI. “They develop an enjoyment for learning… Pupils feel motivated and enthusiastic.”
“Outstanding” was how they described our extra-curricular activities. Pupils’ attainment is judged to be excellent, while the report noted that, “from an early age, pupils are confident and aware of the needs of others, and their behaviour is exemplary.
“Across the school, pupils demonstrate excellent thinking and reasoning skills… They use their well-developed speaking and listening skills effectively, and express their ideas and opinions articulately. Their writing is mature and neatly-presented.”
The ISI praised Dame B’s staff, reflecting that “teaching across the school is of a high standard and often inspiring… The high level of personal development in the school is due in no small measure to the excellent pastoral care given by the committed staff, who know their pupils extremely well. They provide pupils with a warm, family atmosphere.” The report also noted that “membership of the Stephen Perse Foundation has resulted in a number of positive changes.”
Naturally we are delighted to have an independent acknowledgement of the quality of the education we provide at Dame B’s.
