House system

Our house system is all about accentuating the positive – creating bonds between children, promoting good behaviour and celebrating effort and individual achievement.

There are three houses – Bradbury, Malim and Player – and house assemblies are held twice a term. Two Year 6 pupils from each house are chosen as house captains, along with a vice-captain, and two staff members are leaders for each house. All other members of staff belong to houses, too.

Children also belong to house families, which include a pupil from each year group, led by a Year 6 pupil. This helps to form close ties between children of different ages.

House points are awarded for doing your best – whether that means getting the answer right or just having a go at something new – as well as through the head’s awards and commendation certificates. The house cup is awarded at the leavers’ assembly to the house with highest number of points.

House matches are held each half-term, involving pupils from Years 3 to 6. These may include football, rugby, netball, hockey and chess – the idea is that every pupil who wants to take part can have a go. The Pre-prep and Prep Sports Days in the Summer term are the culmination of the year’s house events.
