Summer Term 2010
Rounders
North West Essex Rounders Tournament at Newport Free Grammar School
Dame B's won the tournament with some fabulous play.
Equally importantly, the childrens' manners and behaviour were praised as "an inspiration", particularly the way they congratulated each other, and their opponents, on good shots and rounders.
Kwik Cricket
Dame B's Under 11 team won the Saffron Walden Kwik Cricket League, beating Friends' School in the semi-final and RA Butler Junior School in the final.
"It was a convincing win which capped a highly successful Kwik Cricket season," said Mr Hewlett.
Athletics
USSP Tournament at Helena Romanes School
The tournament was open to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, but we only took a Year 6 team, to give them experience of such an event as we missed the Bedford Athletics earlier this year.
Even so, despite "giving away" points in all of the events where we did not enter athletes, our Girls' team still came 7th out of the 8 teams - testament to some excellent performances in all of the Year 6 events. Special highlights were:
• Girls' Long Distance: Madeleine and Katie Burton both came first in their 800m events
• Boys' Long Distance: Chris Holder and Ethan Monks both came first in their 800m events
• Shot Putt: Lauren Bruton-Long came first
• Standing Long Jump: Lucy Turner came second
