The discovery trail continues

4th March 2010

The power of a sneeze, how to make music from a bottle and the dangers of electricity - these were just some of the discoveries made on the fourth day of Science Week.

The whole School was transfixed by the stars when the children crept inside the travelling planetarium, StarDome.

Images from ThursdayScientists from the Genome Centre showed Year 6 how far and wide microbes spread, using ultra-violet light and spray, and the children had fun making their own balloon microbes.

There were volcanoes for Year 3, screen-printing for Year 2, while a workshop with EDF Energy for Years 4 to 6 left them suitably impressed about electricity.

Family Challenge photosThe evening saw another of Mrs Bullen-Smith's memorable Family Challenges: creating a DIY balloon-popper! A great deal of ingenuity and energy was expended and some extraordinary contraptions were built.
