Wartime memories make a moving drama

3rd July 2010

"It was very interesting as well as hilarious!" Yasmine Jennings. "The camouflage was simply amazing." Milo Marsh. "The scenery was very effective. It made me feel I had gone back in time. Year 6 have REAL talent." Olivia Bond.

These comments from Year 5 pupils are just some of the praise from pupils, parents and staff alike for ‘We’ll Meet Again’, Year 6’s moving, mature and musical look at the life of evacuees during World War II.

More from the play

The play followed the fortunes of a group of evacuees who were first sent away during what became known as "The Phoney War", then returned to London before being sent away again when significant bombing began.

Using original movie clips, songs and small dramatic tableaux, 'We'll Meet Again' recreated an intense, evocative wartime atmosphere and also featured great acting and singing talent.

The play had been brought to life in less than three weeks after Year 6's Snowdon trip, by Year 6 teachers Anne Orange and Lucy Bullen-Smith, Music Subject Leader Bryn Jones and a great team of other helpers.

The official photographs of the play are used by kind permission of theatre and portrait photographer Sarah Hall.
