"The children encouraged me to have a go on the most scary of rides."4th July 2010
It was a day filled with adrenalin when Mrs James and a brave team of parents and teachers took Year 5 for a special outing to Wicksteed Park, renowned for its wonderful rides.
There was fear and excitement in equal measure as staff, parents and children tried out the pirate ship (a giant swing), roller coaster and a number of rides in which they all got soaked. After a picnic lunch it was on to the Big Top for a fun-packed and unusual visit to the circus.
"It was the best day ever!" was the verdict from one of the Year 5 pupils about the trip, the first visit to Wicksteed Park for many years.
"It was a wonderful and invigorating last trip for me," said Mrs James, who retires this term. "My knuckles are still white! The children were so enthusiastic and encouraged me to have a go on the most scary of rides. Usually I encourage them to try new things - what a case of role reversal!"
