Frequently Asked Questions

Q Is my child able to go to the loo when he/she needs to?
A Yes, and a member of staff is always available if a child needs help.

Q What is the best number of sessions?
A Ideally five mornings, but this is not always suitable or possible. We say a minimum of three sessions. This can be three mornings, or one morning and one full day. Most people increase the number of sessions during the year.

Q Do all Nursery children routinely get a place in Reception?
A For entry into our Reception, priority is given to children who are already in our Nursery, then to siblings, then to the order of registration. See our Admissions page for entry information.

Q How do I know how my child is getting on at Nursery?
A We talk every day with parents at drop-off and collection time. It is important that both parents and teachers work together to give children the very best support. Parents can also contact Mrs Gibson by email with queries or concerns.

We send reports home at the end of the Autumn Term and the Summer Term. There are two Parents' Evenings a year: the first, in October, is a chance to meet all the teachers in Nursery and look at your child's keyworker book. The second, in March, offers an opportunity to see Mrs Gibson for a individual discussion.

Q How do I know what my child has had for lunch?
A A weekly menu is on display on the noticeboard and the Parents' Area of the website. All the Nursery staff eat with the children and can tell you what your child has had for lunch if you have concerns. A healthy snack is available mid-morning, and the children have access to water throughout the day.

Q How can I find out what topic my child is learning?
A Each week, the topic is posted on the Parents' Noticeboard, giving ideas about what your child will be covering within a particular topic. This gives parents a prompt for conversation with their children about school.

Q How can I find out what is going on at School?
A This website is regularly updated and includes a confidential Parents' Area. There is a Nursery newsletter twice a term and a school newsletter every fortnight. Parents also receive letters about school events and trips which involve Nursery children, and regular letters from the Head, Mrs Crouch. We use an online communications system to send letters home.
