It’s never too soon to learn another language and there are huge benefits to starting young, as the children in our early years classes show.

Their lack of inhibitions and self-consciousness mean that they soak up new vocabulary, along with unfamiliar sounds and intonations, when they’re singing, enjoying role play, acting out scenes and making up rhymes (la plume de ma tante is rather vieux chapeau these days).

Another bonus is that the pupils quickly see how we (and they) fit into a larger community of countries – and they may even get a chance to practise their Merci, Monsieur on family holidays.
