Learning to use a racket to hit a ball or throw a javelin (made of sponge, by the way) is not only great fun – it’s an important part of your child’s health, wellbeing and physical development.

At Dame B’s, we have excellent facilities and specialist staff so our children can acquire the skills they need to take part competitive sport – as well as a lifelong love of exercise.

In Year 1, the children continue to enjoy the confidence-building thrills and challenges of the big gym activity circuit. They also begin to test their skills on more formal equipment, such as rackets and balls.  Year 2 sees the introduction of athletics, with activities such as hurdles, long jump, high jump and javelin. And big gym is replaced by gymnastics and dance.

It’s about learning to co-operate and work together as much as developing a healthy sense of competition. We think of it as laying the foundations for our sports teams of the future – and of a healthy way of life for our children.
