Design Technology

Fancy making an ancient Greek chariot or a fairground ride with moving parts? Perhaps you’d rather design an iPod case, a puppet or a land yacht? Or maybe building a Norman castle appeals?

There’s a project to excite every child in design technology, which brings together their creative and practical skills with amazing results. It stimulates ingenuity and improvisation – there are no pre-ordained results but plenty of opportunities to investigate and solve practical problems.

It’s genuinely hands-on learning, where children experiment with all the tools and materials on offer and where trial and error often bring the break-through they need. In fact, it’s an object lesson in perseverance and lateral thinking that feeds back into every aspect of their lives.
