Year 11 – Year 13 Art, Drama and English Trip to Italy
19-23 October
Around a third of William Shakespeare’s plays are set in Italy. Over the years, this has inspired much scholarly debate: whilst there is no concrete evidence to suggest he ever travelled there, he clearly knew a great deal about Italian cities and culture. Some schools of thought have even dared to suggest that Shakespeare was not born in Stratford-Upon-Avon but was in fact Italian.
Our trip to Italy will give us an opportunity to discuss this and many of his great works at length, with visits to three cities that all have a strong Shakespearean connection - Verona, Padua and Venice. Whilst there, we will, of course, also take full advantage of all the wonderful architectural, cultural and artistic opportunities that these cities offer.
